This module automatically adds Excel-style color gradients to numeric fields within Drupal Views. It transforms numbers into visual insights, making it easy to understand patterns in performance metrics, ratings, and scores at a glance.

This module is part of the DXPR ecosystem and included in DXPR CMS.

Views Color Scales automatically adds Excel-style color gradients to numeric fields in Views. Transform boring numbers into visual insights - sentiment scores, performance metrics, and ratings instantly become color-coded for at-a-glance understanding.

You need Views Color Scales if

  • You display numeric data in Views and want instant visual insights
  • You need to quickly identify patterns in performance metrics, ratings, or scores
  • You want Excel-style heat maps for your Drupal data without complex configuration
  • You manage dashboards with sentiment analysis, survey results, or financial data
  • You prefer visual data representation over scanning columns of numbers

Features

What solution does this module provide?

Views Color Scales solves the problem of quickly understanding numeric data patterns in Drupal Views. Instead of scanning columns of numbers, users instantly see performance through color gradients - red for low values, green for high values, with smooth transitions in between.

Basic functionality:

  • Automatically enhances ALL numeric fields in any View - no duplicate fields needed
  • One-click enable/disable per field - use it only where you need it
  • Configurable color schemes - choose your own min/max colors for each field
  • Smart auto-detection - automatically finds the data range or set manual limits
  • Accessible design - automatic black/white text for optimal contrast

Post-Installation

Getting started is simple:

  1. Enable the module - No initial configuration needed
  2. Edit any View containing numeric data (Structure > Views > Edit)
  3. Click on any numeric field to configure it
  4. Look for "Color Scale" options in the field settings (appears automatically)
  5. Check "Enable Color Scale" to activate the feature
  6. Save and see results - Your numbers now have color gradients!

Configuration options per field:

  • Enable Color Scale - Turn on/off per field
  • Auto-detect min/max - Let the module find your data range (recommended)
  • Manual min/max values - Set specific thresholds for consistent scaling
  • Color selection - Customize minimum (red) and maximum (green) colors

Pro tips:

  • Start with auto-detect to see your data distribution
  • Switch to manual ranges for consistent thresholds across multiple Views
  • Different fields can have different color schemes
  • All standard numeric formatting (decimals, prefix/suffix) still works
