MCP server

Ask your AI assistant about Drupal releases, with live data

The drupalreleases.com MCP server lets Claude and other AI assistants look up the same data this site shows: which releases a module has, whether it's ready for the current Drupal core, which Drupal and PHP versions still get security fixes, and what happened in the ecosystem this week.

MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is an open standard for connecting an AI assistant to an outside data source. Once it's connected, the assistant decides for itself when to call the server, so you just ask your question in plain language.

Connect your assistant ↓ Free. One command, then approve in your browser.

Why connect it

Without it, an assistant answering a Drupal question has to search the web, download drupal.org pages, and pick the answer out of their HTML. With it, one tool call returns exactly the fields it needs.

Cheaper and faster

No web searches and no scraping pages full of markup. A short structured answer uses far fewer tokens and round trips, so you get the answer sooner and your usage limits last longer.

Reliable answers

Core compatibility, PHP requirements, and support dates come back as exact values, not text guessed from a page. The assistant can't land on an outdated page or misread a table.

Current, with sources

The data picks up new drupal.org releases within 15 minutes, well past any model's training cutoff. Every result links to the matching drupalreleases.com page, so you can check it.

Read-only and free

The tools only read public release data and never see your code or your site. You approve each assistant with a one-time email link, and can disconnect it or delete your account at any time.

What you can ask

The server gives your assistant four tools. You don't need to call them yourself.

search-projects
Finds modules, themes, and distributions by name or machine name. Exact machine-name matches rank first, then projects by install count. "Is there a module for scheduling content publication?"
get-project
Returns one project: its latest stable release, Drupal core compatibility, PHP requirement, maintenance status, security coverage, recent releases, and dependencies. "Can I upgrade to Drupal 11 with Paragraphs and Webform installed?"
get-drupal-support
Lists which Drupal core and PHP versions still get security updates, and until when. "How long is Drupal 10 supported, and which PHP should I run with it?"
list-updates
Recent ecosystem activity: releases, new projects, security advisories, security-coverage changes, and end-of-life warnings. You can filter it by type or by project. "Were there any security releases for Drupal this week?"

How to connect

  1. 1. Add the server to your assistant

    For Claude Code, run:

claude mcp add --transport http drupalreleases https://www.drupalreleases.com/mcp

In Claude, Cursor, or any other client that supports remote MCP servers, add a server with the URL https://www.drupalreleases.com/mcp.

  2. 2. Approve it in your browser

Your assistant opens a drupalreleases.com page. Sign in with the link we email you (there's no password) and click Approve. You only do this once per assistant.

  3. 3. Ask your question

The assistant calls the server whenever a Drupal question needs current data.

Using a client that can't open a browser to sign in? Create a personal access token on your account page and send it as an Authorization: Bearer header instead.
