This module adds a WhatsApp messaging link widget to your Drupal site, allowing users to easily connect with you via the WhatsApp messaging service.

This module provides a widget that integrates a personalized messaging link for WhatsApp service with Key module.

What is WhatsApp?

According to the company:

WhatsApp Messenger is a cross-platform mobile messenger that replaces SMS and works through the existing internet data plan of your device. WhatsApp is available for iPhone, BlackBerry, Android, Windows Phone, Nokia Symbian60 & S40 phones. Because WhatsApp Messenger uses the same internet data plan that you use for email and web browsing, there is no cost to message and stay in touch with your friends.

Late 2011 numbers: 1 billion messages per day, ~20 million users.

Installation and usage

Here's a demo video on how to use and configure the module: https://youtu.be/DWzd0DkdTYE

  1. If your site is managed via Composer, use Composer to download the whatsapp module running composer require 'drupal/whatsapp:1.0'. Otherwise copy/upload the whatsapp module to the modules directory of your Drupal installation.
  2. Enable the 'WhatsApp' module 'Extend'. (/admin/modules)
  3. Go to admin/config/services/whatsapp and choose a widget key provided by chatwithio.
  4. If you have not registered any keys yet, go to admin/config/system/keys and add a new one.
  5. Once you have done this you can enable the widget by adding a WhatsApp block in the layout.
