Webships API Installer

Webships is a Drupal installer for API sites. It enables no modules of its own. You choose a site template while installing, and that template decides what the site has.

How it works

Install Webships and it asks one question: which site template do you want? It applies the one you choose, then uninstalls itself, so nothing of the installer is left on the finished site.

The site templates are Drupal recipes, so a site built this way is made of the same pieces as any other Drupal site. You can add your own to the list.

Site templates

• Webships Starter: a gallery of web apps and the organizations behind them, published over JSON:API for other Drupal sites to read. WebApps reads that list, so the apps show up in the Project Browser of any Drupal site.
• WebAPI Starter: a plain Drupal API site, with read-only JSON:API under an /api prefix and Swagger documentation.

Install

Webships is built and run with DDEV.

ddev config --project-type=drupal --docroot=web --project-name=my-api-site --auto
ddev start
ddev composer install
ddev drush site:install webships --account-name=webmaster -y

The installer then asks which site template to apply. To install a site template directly, the way Drupal CMS does it:

ddev drush site:install ../recipes/webships_starter -y --account-name=webmaster

The site is then at https://my-api-site.ddev.site.

What you get

• The Drupal core administration theme, front end and back end.
• JSON:API, with the documentation the chosen site template provides, through the WebAPI module.
• Nothing else. Modules arrive with the site template, not with the installer.
