Part of the Webship ecosystem · 5 projects
Webship provides automated functional acceptance testing for websites, helping to speed up product shipping. It offers setup for automated testing configurations, writing Gherkin scripts, and development of custom step definitions using Cucumber.js, with support for local or remote CI/CD servers.
Webship helps web developers ship websites in a swift way. On 12.0.x it is the installer profile of the Website project: it lists the site templates, applies the one you pick, then uninstalls itself.
What you get
An installer that turns a fresh project into a working site. It lists the site templates, applies the recipes of the one you pick, sets the theme and adds the demo content.
- Webship Starter: a site to manage software, with documentation, products and releases, and a newsletter.
- Website Starter: a company or product website.
- Webship Portal: the Webship.co portal, with Webtheme.
- Built with the UI Suite UIkit theme, UIkit and HTMX, on top of Drupal and Display Builder.
- Curated patches via webship/patches and webship/drupal-patches, and automated testing on GitLab CI.

Setup Webship Locally with:
Webship on the website project with DDEV
mkdir -p ~/workspace/projects/my-website cd ~/workspace/projects/my-website ddev config --project-type=drupal11 --docroot=web --php-version=8.4 ddev start ddev composer create-project drupal/website ddev drush site:install ../recipes/webship_starter -y --account-name=webmaster --site-name="My Website" ddev launch
Webship in the browser with DDEV
mkdir -p ~/workspace/projects/my-website
cd ~/workspace/projects/my-website
ddev config --project-type=drupal11 --docroot=web --php-version=8.4
ddev start
ddev composer create-project drupal/website
ddev launch
The installer asks for the site name, the site template and the admin account.
We love to help with
- Setting up Automated Functional Testing for projects.
- Writing Cucumber and Gherkin scenarios for web apps.
- Webship-js, built on Playwright and Cucumber-js, with general step definitions.
- Tests run headless in GitLab CI, and locally with DDEV. Playwright ships its own browsers, so there is no Selenium server or web-driver setup involved.
