Webform Handler Defer

3 sites Security covered Drupal 10–11 Webform ecosystem
View on drupal.org

This module allows you to defer the execution of certain Webform submission handlers to a later time, running them during the next cron job instead of immediately after submission. This can improve the user experience by reducing the time they have to wait after submitting a form. You can configure which handlers to defer on a per-webform basis.

Because Webform submission handlers normally run immediately when a form is submitted, their processing time contributes to the time a user has to wait after submitting the form, before being able to continue interacting with the site.

This module provides a simple way to reduce user waiting time by deferring the processing of selected submission handlers to a later time - they will be run during the next cron run.

Features

  • Configurable per webform, through the Webform submission handlers UI.
  • Simply add the Webform Handler Defer handler itself, then in its configuration page, select which other handlers should be deferred. They can be changed at any time.

Target audience

Webform administrators, site administrators.

Post-Installation

There is no configuration needed for the module itself. Simply add and configure the Webform Handler Defer handler as required in your individual Webforms. Note that it must be the first handler to run - move it to the top of the handers list, or above other handlers that need to be deferred.
