WCAG / Section 508 Checker

This module provides a custom paragraph type for headless Drupal 11 sites that integrates a WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 accessibility checker powered by Playwright and axe-core.

Two scanning modes are available:

**URL Scanner** — paste any publicly accessible URL and the module launches a headless Chromium browser via Playwright, loads the fully rendered page (including JavaScript-rendered content), and runs axe-core against the live DOM.

**HTML Inspector** — paste HTML directly from your browser's Inspect panel (right-click any element and copy its outer HTML). This is ideal for testing individual components or sections without scanning an entire page. An optional CSS field enables color contrast evaluation.

**Results include:**
- Violations grouped by severity: critical, serious, moderate, and minor
- A collapsible list of all passed rules so reviewers can see what was verified
- Rules axe-core cannot automatically pass or fail, flagged for manual human review
- Download results as JSON or CSV

**Coverage note:** Automated tools detect approximately 57% of WCAG 2.1 AA criteria. Color contrast without CSS, meaningful alt text, logical reading order, focus management, and cognitive accessibility always require human review alongside automated results. This follows the same methodology as enterprise tools such as Deque axe DevTools and Siteimprove.

The Drupal module handles only the CMS paragraph type and heading label field. All scanning logic runs in Next.js API routes on the server. See the GitHub repository for full Next.js setup instructions.
