This module allows you to use Views to display text in the header, footer, or empty areas based on query results, without rendering any fields or rows. It enables a "query-only" mode for specific View displays, effectively using Views for conditional messaging instead of displaying content lists.

Views Conditional Text adds a Query-only (conditional text) mode to Views displays.

When this mode is enabled, the View query is executed normally, but
no fields, rows, exposed filters, pagers, or paths are rendered.
This allows site builders to display conditional content using
Header, Footer, or Empty text areas only.

Key Features

  • Adds a Query-only mode toggle per View display
  • Runs the View query without rendering rows or fields
  • Fully suppresses exposed filters and pagers
  • Allows Header, Footer, and Empty text to render normally
  • Works with Page and Block displays
  • No global configuration required

Typical Use Cases

  • Display informational or status messages based on query results
  • Show conditional banners or notices without rendering content lists
  • Use Views as a lightweight data check instead of a renderer

How It Works

The module integrates as a Views display extender.
When Query-only mode is enabled for a display:

  • The View query still runs
  • Fields, rows, exposed forms, pagers, and paths are suppressed
  • Header, Footer, and Empty areas behave normally based on results

Notes

  • This module does not modify query logic or filters
  • It only affects rendering when explicitly enabled per display
  • Other Views displays remain completely unaffected
