Varbase AI VDB: MariaDB

Uses MariaDB's native VECTOR type as the vector database for AI Search. The vectors live in the site's own database, with no extra service to run, or on a separate MariaDB server.

The recipe installs AI, AI Search and the MariaDB VDB provider, keeps the provider on the Drupal database connection, and makes MariaDB the site's default vector database, which the Varbase AI Search Base recipe reads. A separate server set in settings.php still wins over it. It does not create a Search API server or index; that belongs to Varbase AI Search Base.

It needs MariaDB 11.7 or later wherever the vectors live. It is one of the interchangeable vector database recipes for Varbase AI Search Base, alongside Varbase AI VDB: Milvus, and the only one whose provider has a stable release.

Best used with Varbase Starter site template.

Can be installed with any Drupal CMS ~2.0 or Drupal Core ~11 site. Even if installed with the Minimal or Standard profile.

However, using it with Varbase gives you way much more cool stuff!
