User Form Simplify trims the user account and registration forms down to what your site actually uses. Out of the box, Drupal asks new members about a picture, a personal contact form, language preferences and a time zone picked from more than 400 zones around the world. Most small sites need few of those, and every extra field is one more reason to give up on signing up.
This module lets you hide any of them, and shorten the time zone list to the countries your members live in.
Features
- Hide what you don't need. Pick elements from a list built from your own account form: the picture, contact settings, language, time zone, fields you added and elements other modules add. They disappear from the account edit form, the registration form and the account page, for everyone.
- Hidden means hidden. Saved values are kept, and a hidden setting can't be changed through the form, not even with a hand-made request. The module resets hidden inputs after Drupal reads the submitted values, instead of only hiding them.
- Time zones by country. Offer only the time zones of the countries you choose, grouped by country, with familiar names first: "Eastern (New York)", "Central (Chicago)", "Mountain (Denver)", "Pacific (Los Angeles)". A United States preset adds the territories and freely associated states in one click.
- Your choice of scope. Limit just the account and registration forms, or every time zone list on the site, including the regional settings.
- Safe to try. Nothing changes until you configure it, and uninstalling leaves your users' data as it was.
Post-installation
composer require drupal/user_form_simplify, then enable the module.- Go to Configuration » People » Account settings and open the Simplify tab (
/admin/config/people/accounts/simplify). You need the Administer account settings permission. - Check the elements to hide. Optionally enter country codes such as
US, CA, or press Use the United States and its territories, and choose where time zone lists are limited.
The settings are regular configuration (user_form_simplify.settings), so they deploy with the rest of your config.
Requirements
Drupal 10.3 or later, or Drupal 11. No other modules.
Similar projects
- Simplify hides a fixed list of elements across nodes, users, comments, taxonomy and blocks, with a permission to see them anyway. User Form Simplify only works on user forms, but offers any element on them, including fields and elements from other modules, and keeps hidden settings from being changed by a submitted form. It also limits time zone lists, which Simplify doesn't do.
- Field Permissions controls who may view and edit each field, per role. Use it when some people should see a field and others shouldn't. User Form Simplify removes elements for everyone, and also covers non-field elements such as contact, language and time zone settings.
- Form mode manager lets you build separate form modes. Hiding fields in the user form display works for fields too, but not for the contact, language and time zone settings, which aren't fields.
