User Change History records field-level changes to existing user accounts, custom profile fields, and directly attached Paragraphs. It provides readable before-and-after comparisons and a searchable administration listing.
Features
- Tracks changes to account settings and custom user fields.
- Displays historical text, numbers, dates, links, choices, references, files, and images.
- Tracks Paragraph additions, edits, removals, and reordering.
- Supports translated field values.
- Groups related changes within one request.
- Filters history by affected user, change author, and calendar date range.
- Provides configurable field exclusions. Passwords and operational fields are excluded automatically.
- Includes separate permissions for viewing history and managing settings.
Requirements
Drupal 10.3 or Drupal 11, with the core User and Views modules enabled. Paragraphs is optional.
Configuration
Enable the module and grant trusted reviewers the “View user change history” permission. Grant “Administer user change history” to administrators who manage exclusions.
- History: /admin/config/people/user-change-history
- Settings: /admin/config/people/user-change-history/settings
Scope and limitations
Recording begins with future updates to existing users. Initial account creation, account deletion, direct SQL updates, and nested Paragraph trees are not tracked.
History may contain personal information and previous field values. Restrict access to trusted reviewers. Records are not automatically deleted, and the history is not tamper-evident.
This initial alpha targets fresh installations. Existing custom installations require a migration plan.
