This module provides a text filter that removes unnecessary trailing HTML whitespace tags, such as empty paragraphs or line breaks. This is particularly helpful when using WYSIWYG editors to keep content clean.

This is useful when using a WYSIWYG editor for instance.
Enable the module and add the 'Trim HTML' text filter to your text format. You might have to play with the order. For me placing the 'Trim HTML' text filter to the first place worked.
