stories
Stories connect the past and present to the future. Our stories and our learning from them honors and respects our ancestors and us. They can awaken future generations to their potential. They model a way to use their stories to release themselves as they connect to their history and to our values. — Rachael Freed
Knowing the importance of stories, how do we leverage Drupal to allow them to best be told? That is something we’ve been trying to solve for a long time. Traditionally, we haven’t had much more than a WYSIWYG field to work with. Stories module utilizes some of the most exciting Drupal modules to give story-tellers, content creators and website managers the tools they need to tell their story.
At its core, Stories module leverages Paragraphs module for a component-based approach for content creation. Stories provides some predefined Paragraph Types:
- Rich Text
- Quote
- Curated Content
- Link List
- Table
- Call to Action
- Blocks (Drupal Blocks Integration)
- Views Content Lists (Drupal Views Integration)
Stories also has a submodule called Stories Media that has deep integration with Media Module in Drupal Core It uses Entity Browser, DropzoneJS and Inline Entity Form to streamline creation of and reuse of media elements. Stories Media provides configuration for the following media types:
- Web Video
- Image
- Slideshow
Roadmap
Stories is minimally maintained.
Trouble Updating?
Due to the wide range of paragraphs included, Stories has dependencies on many other modules. This module predominantly contains configuration imported when the module is first installed. Once installed, this module provides little value. We recommend considering uninstalling Stories once the configuration is installed. The only function you may need to copy over to your own custom theme or module is stories_media_preprocess_paragraph
