simple_mail

A module to simplify sending emails with Drupal.

There are many great modules for complex email handling and sending scenarios, or email templating, and Drupal core handles emails pretty well by itself. However, for many sites, a radically simplified email sending system is helpful.

With Simple Mail, sending an email is as simple as:

  simple_mail_send($from, $to, $subject, $body);

Want to queue the email, so you can send thousands of emails in the background without crashing your site?

  simple_mail_queue($from, $to, $subject, $body);

This module aims to make email delivery easy/simple for simple use cases. As such, it is not going to be adding more advanced features that you could find in a module like Mime Mail or HTML Mail.

HTML Email in Drupal 8+

In Drupal 8, if you want to send HTML in your email body using Simple Mail, add the following line of configuration to your site's settings.php:

$config['system.mail']['interface']['default'] = 'simple_mail';

Queue Handling

If you need to inspect the Simple Mail queue, use the Queue UI module.

You can also manage the queue on the CLI using drush queue options if you have Drush installed.
