Trovr Connect links a Drupal site to Trovr (https://trovr.studio/), an AI search optimization platform that scans a website and suggests content improvements so AI assistants can understand and recommend it. The module lets Trovr find the right fields on a page and send edits back. Nothing Trovr sends goes live on its own. Each edit is saved as a draft revision, and an editor reviews it first.
The module is only useful with a Trovr account.
Features
- Adds data-aeo-id and data-aeo-type attributes to the fields of the content types you choose, so Trovr knows which field is which and whether it can send back HTML or plain text only. Fields printed in the usual way are tagged automatically. For templates that print raw values, there is a Twig function and a PHP service to add the markup by hand.
- Provides an authenticated API endpoint where Trovr sends edits. It can update the title, body, other fields (including fields inside Paragraphs) and SEO meta tags.
- Saves every edit as a new revision in a state of your own Content Moderation workflow. The module creates no workflow and no state.
- Adds a "Trovr Pending Reviews" view where editors approve or delete Trovr's revisions.
- Optional FAQ support: outputs FAQPage structured data in the page head and lets Trovr create and update FAQ sections.
Post-installation
- Go to Configuration > Trovr > Trovr Settings (/admin/config/shockoe_trovr/settings). Choose the content types Trovr can use and enter the email of a Drupal user that only Trovr will use. Optionally pick the workflow state where edits land and turn on FAQ support.
- Give that user permission to edit the chosen content types, and the Content Moderation transition into the landing state.
- In Simple OAuth, create a key pair, a "trovr_write" scope (Client Credentials grant, Permission granularity, permission "Write Trovr Connect content") and a confidential client with that scope. Give the client ID and secret to Trovr.
The README has the full steps, and AEO_UPDATE_API.md describes the endpoint, its error codes and curl examples.
Additional requirements
- Drupal 11.2 or later and PHP 8.3 or later
- Content Moderation (core), with a workflow on every content type you use with Trovr
- Paragraphs, Metatag and Simple OAuth 6
- A site reachable over HTTPS from the Trovr service
Recommended modules
Redirect lets the API find a page by an old URL after its alias changed.
Similar projects
AEO (Agentic Engine Optimization) audits and scores a site's pages for AI answer engines. It runs entirely on the site and sends nothing to an external service. Trovr Connect does a different job: it lets an external service (Trovr) read content and send back edits, which editors approve as moderated revisions.
