Seeds Toolbar (NEW Drupal Administration Toolbar)

Seeds Toolbar is a new UX concept for Drupal admin navigation.
Seeds Toolbar is part of our journey to build Seeds, a kickoff distribution for SMEs.

There are two versions. 3.x works with the core Navigation module (Drupal 11.3 or later, and 12). 2.x works with the classic toolbar and Admin Toolbar (Drupal 9, 10 and 11).

Seeds Toolbar 3.x

From 3.x it builds on the core Navigation module instead of replacing the toolbar, so it keeps core's layout, mobile support and right-to-left support, and adds the Seeds design and the tools site builders reach for every day.

What you get

• Seeds design: a clean sidebar with a centered logo, light and dark colors that follow the admin theme (Default Admin and Gin included), and menus that open on click.
• Complete Create menu: every content type, media type, vocabulary, block type and menu, plus the entity types your modules add (Group, Commerce products and stores, and more), each with a shortcut to its settings.
• Admin search: press Ctrl/⌘ + K to find any administration page you can open.
• Tools menu: flush all or individual caches, run cron and run database updates, so Admin Toolbar Tools is no longer needed.
• Next to the logo: the Drupal version, a badge counting available updates (red for security updates) and a badge counting featured Drupal announcements, each one optional.
• Fixed headers stay in place: a site header or any bar fixed to the page is kept below the top bar and beside the sidebar, and mega menus follow it.
• Action links, edit mode and layout preview: the local tasks of the page, the contextual edit toggle and the Responsive Preview tab, back in the sidebar.
• Grouped administration menu and CMS group: everything editors work with in one place.

Options

Everything is set at Configuration » User interface » Seeds Toolbar, in tabs:

• Choose which entity types and menus are in the Create menu, and how the sidebar is grouped.
• Change the logo, and give the collapsed sidebar a logo of its own.
• Add a support link, and leave it empty to hide it.
• Add links of your own to the sidebar, with an icon and a weight.
• Choose where the action links and the edit mode toggle are shown.
• Choose a color scheme and accent color for admin themes that have none.

Requirements

• Drupal 11.3 or later, or Drupal 12, with the core Navigation module.
• Optional: Contextual Links (edit mode), Responsive Preview (layout preview), Update (update badge) and Announcements Feed (announcements badge).

Upgrading from 2.x

Run the database updates. Seeds Toolbar installs Navigation for you and moves your support link and logos over. The Toolbar, Admin Toolbar and Admin Toolbar Tools modules are no longer needed and can be uninstalled.

Seeds Toolbar is a new UX concept for Drupal admin navigation.
