SCORM Lite lets editors upload an e-learning course (a SCORM zip file) to any content type and show it to visitors. The module extracts the package for you and displays the course from a simple launch button. It does not track learners, so it needs no LMS (learning management system).
Features
SCORM Lite adds a SCORM package field type that works on any fieldable entity (content types, media, taxonomy terms and so on). Use it when you want to publish training or e-learning content on your site and do not need scores, progress or completion reports.
- Upload with core's standard file widget. Any SCORM zip containing
imsmanifest.xmlis accepted. - The package is extracted automatically and the launch file is read from the manifest.
- The zip is deleted after extraction to save disk space (optional setting to keep it).
- Two field formatters, each showing a configurable launch button:
- SCORM iframe: opens the course inline in an iframe of configurable size.
- SCORM player: opens the course in a player covering the whole page.
- Optional Open in new tab (
/scorm/node/123) or Full screen for each formatter. - Extracted files are removed when the package's file is deleted.
- Safe by default: courses run in a sandboxed iframe, only static file types are extracted, and package folders have random names.
Example use cases: staff onboarding, compliance or product training, and course catalogues where the content is created in an authoring tool and only needs to be viewed.
Post-Installation
- Enable the module.
- Go to Structure > Content types > (your type) > Manage fields and add a field of type SCORM package.
- In the field settings, choose the zip upload directory and the extraction directory (inside
public://). Optionally tick Keep the uploaded zip file. - Go to Manage display and choose SCORM iframe or SCORM player. Use the formatter settings (gear icon) to set the button label, size, Open in new tab and Full screen. Full screen is disabled when new tab is on, because browsers only allow full screen after a click on the same page.
- Go to People > Permissions and give Upload SCORM packages only to trusted roles. It is a restricted permission.
- Create content and upload a package. A sample course is included in
examples/sample-course.zipin the project's git repository (not in release packages).
Things to know:
- Courses run in a sandbox. They cannot use
localStorage, sessionStorageor cookies. - Extracted files are public. Do not use this for confidential content.
- On Apache, an
.htaccessadds extra security headers to the extracted files. nginx ignores it, but the iframe sandbox still applies.
Additional Requirements
- Drupal 11.1 or later
- Core File module
- The PHP
zipextension
No other modules, libraries or external services are needed.
Recommended modules/libraries
None required. Use core's access control or a module such as Group if you need to limit who can view courses.

SCORM Lite is the lightweight option: no SCORM runtime, no tracking and no extra configuration. It only shows courses, and sandboxes them for safety.

Bug reports, patches and merge requests are welcome in the issue queue.
Community Documentation
See the README in the project repository for usage, security notes and known limitations.
Limitations
- No LMS tracking, SCORM API, xAPI/cmi5 or storage of learner results. Courses that require an LMS may not work.
