Save & Edit

Save & Edit adds a "Save & Edit" button to node edit forms, next to the default "Save" button.

Clicking it saves the node and returns you to the same edit form, instead of redirecting to the node's view page – useful for anyone who saves drafts repeatedly while working on content and doesn't want a redirect breaking their flow each time.

Features

• Per-content-type enablement, with an option to auto-enable the button for newly created content types
• Customizable button text for both the "Save & Edit" and default "Save" buttons
• Adjustable button weight, and optional display as a Gin admin theme primary action
• Auto-unpublish on save (all nodes, or new nodes only) for sites that want new/edited content to default to unpublished
• Optional hiding of the default Save, Preview, and Delete buttons
• Preserves the destination query parameter so the button behaves correctly when reached from a filtered or redirected URL

Scope

This module works on node edit forms only. It does not currently support other entity types (taxonomy terms, media, users, etc.) – this has been a recurring feature request. If you'd like to help expand this module's entity support, see #3101576

Requirements

No modules outside of Drupal core.

Compatibility

• 2.x – Drupal 10 and 11 stable. Security and major bug fixes only. Planned to be unsupported after Drupal 12 releases.
• 3.x – Drupal 11.2+ and 12 stable. New development should target this branch.

Maintenance status

This module is considered feature-complete and is maintained for bug fixes and core-compatibility updates rather than active feature development. New feature contributions are still welcome provided they're narrow in scope, well written, and well tested.
