reference_by_view_mode

This module adds a new EntityReferenceSelection plugin that lets you configure entity reference fields by view mode. Instead of manually selecting bundles, you choose one or more view modes (e.g. "Card", "Teaser") and the plugin automatically limits the reference field to bundles that support those view modes.

Features

When configuring the field entity reference, you can select view modes. And no longer needs updating the configuration when the underlaying entity gets support for that view mode.

Configuration

At the confugration screen for fields of the type "entity reference" you have a Reference method option from this module.
There you can select wich view modes you want, and it calculates the bundles that will be used at selection time.
The config will save the view modes you select, the default plugin uses bundles. But at runtime it still filters towards bundles.
