Pulse Analytics
Pulse Analytics adds privacy-first web analytics to a Drupal site. It sets no cookies, stores no personal data, and the script it adds to your pages is under 3 KB.
Features
- Adds the Pulse tracking tag to every page with one setting, or none at all — leave the domain empty and the tracker uses the browser's own hostname.
- Reports pageviews, referrers, countries, devices, time on page and scroll depth, plus goals, funnels and campaigns, in a dashboard hosted in Europe.
- Optional companion script for clicks, copies and form submits, loaded as a separate request so you only pay for it if you want it.
- Administration pages are excluded by default — counting them inflates every number on the dashboard.
- Optional custom API origin, if you route events through your own proxy.
- No cookies, so no consent banner is required for it. Visitors whose browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control are not counted at all.
Post-Installation
Enable the module, then go to Configuration → Web services → Pulse Analytics (/admin/config/services/pulse-analytics). Enter the domain your site is registered under in Pulse, or leave it empty to auto-detect. There is no content type, no block and no new permission to grant — the module attaches a script tag via hook_page_attachments() and nothing else.
What lands in your pages is the literal tag, not a wrapper:
Additional Requirements
Drupal 10 or 11. No Composer dependencies, no external libraries, no database tables. You need a Pulse Analytics account with a site registered for the same domain; the free plan is enough to start.
Recommended modules/libraries
None. The module is deliberately self-contained.
Similar projects
Google Analytics and Matomo solve the same problem. Matomo is the closest comparison and can be self-hosted. Pulse is a hosted service run from Europe with no cookies and no personal data, so it needs no consent banner of its own; if you would rather run the analytics server yourself, Matomo is the better fit.
