This module connects your Drupal website to the bot.spot platform to retrieve and inject optimized, server-rendered HTML and structured data into your pages. This enhances how search engines and AI crawlers understand your content without manual edits. It's useful for improving your site's visibility to AI-powered services by delivering remotely managed, optimized content directly from Drupal.

bot.spot Optimizer connects a Drupal website to the bot.spot platform. It retrieves optimized page information from bot.spot and injects it into Drupal pages as server-rendered HTML and structured data.

Because the content is rendered on the server, it is available to search engines, AI crawlers, and other clients that do not execute JavaScript. The module is intended for site owners who want to improve how their content is understood, represented, and cited by AI-powered services without manually editing every page.

Features

The module provides:

  • Integration between Drupal and bot.spot Optimizer.
  • Server-side retrieval and rendering of optimized page content.
  • Automatic injection of an AI-readable content appendix into applicable pages.
  • Support for structured data generated or managed through bot.spot.
  • Dynamic content hydration using information returned by the bot.spot API.
  • User-agent reporting for delivery diagnostics and visibility into which types of clients access the content.
  • Centralized management through bot.spot, without requiring editors to manually update every Drupal page.

This module is useful when a Drupal site is connected to bot.spot Optimizer and its owners want optimized information to be delivered directly from Drupal. It is particularly useful for organizations improving their visibility in AI assistants, AI search engines, traditional search engines, and other automated content-discovery systems.

Unlike a client-side widget, the injected content is included in the HTML response generated by Drupal.

Post-Installation

After installing and enabling the module:

  1. Open the bot.spot Optimizer configuration page in the Drupal administration interface.
  2. Enter the connection details or credentials provided by bot.spot.
  3. Configure the site or workspace that this Drupal installation belongs to.
  4. Review the available content-placement and delivery settings.
  5. Save the configuration and clear Drupal's caches if prompted.

Once configured, the module requests the relevant optimized information from bot.spot while Drupal renders a page. The returned data is hydrated into an HTML template and injected into the server-rendered page response.

The module does not create a new content type and normally does not require changes to Drupal text formats. Content continues to be managed through the site's existing Drupal structure, while the additional optimized information is managed through bot.spot.

Depending on the configured integration, request information such as the requesting user-agent may be sent to bot.spot for delivery diagnostics and reporting. Site administrators should review the module settings and include relevant information in their privacy documentation.

Additional Requirements

This module requires:

  • An active bot.spot account or workspace with Optimizer enabled.
  • Valid bot.spot API credentials or integration credentials.
  • Outbound HTTPS access from the Drupal server to the bot.spot API.
  • A supported version of Drupal and PHP.

The module is built using Drupal APIs and does not require a separate JavaScript application for rendering the injected content.

No additional contributed modules or third-party libraries are required.

Drupal caching, logging, and configuration-management functionality can be used alongside this module as part of a normal production deployment.

Similar projects

Modules such as Metatag, Schema.org integrations, and other SEO modules can add metadata or structured information to Drupal pages.

bot.spot Optimizer is complementary to these projects. Its primary purpose is to connect Drupal to the bot.spot platform and deliver remotely managed, page-specific optimized content as server-rendered HTML and structured data. It also provides delivery reporting that is specific to the bot.spot integration.

The module is not intended to replace Drupal's general SEO, metatag, sitemap, or content-authoring modules.

Supporting this Module

Issues, feature requests, and patches can be submitted through the Drupal.org project issue queue.

Commercial product support and information about bot.spot Optimizer are available through bot.spot.

Community Documentation

Installation instructions, integration documentation, and usage guides are provided through the bot.spot documentation.

Additional Drupal-specific examples and walkthroughs may be added as the module develops.
