This module helps understand how often content is accessed on your Drupal site, whether through traditional admin pages or headless APIs. It allows you to configure tracking for specific content types and choose whether to count views from the admin interface, API requests, or both.

Node Access Count tracks how often content is accessed across admin pages and headless APIs, helping site builders understand content usage in both traditional and decoupled Drupal sites.

Unique features

  • Supports decoupled / headless Drupal use cases
  • Allows configuration at the content type level
  • Enables selective tracking for:
    • Admin views only
    • Headless access only
    • Both admin and headless access

When and why to use this module

  • When you want to understand how often content is accessed
  • When your site uses both traditional Drupal pages and headless frontends
  • When default node statistics are not sufficient for API-based access

Post-Installation

After enabling the module, configuration can be completed through the admin interface:

  1. Navigate to Administration > Configuration > Content Authoring > Node Access Count
  2. Select the content types for which access tracking should be enabled
  3. Choose the tracking mode:
    • Admin-side node view
    • Headless (API-based) access
  4. If Headless tracking is enabled, an additional Headless Configuration tab will appear
  5. Configure the API route details used to access nodes
  6. Save the configuration

Once configured, node access counts are automatically recorded based on the selected options. No additional content types or fields are required.
