NBG Currency Rates for Georgian Lari (₾)

NBG Currency displays official GEL exchange rates from the National Bank of Georgia in a configurable block, with currencies selected by the site builder.

• Display the National Bank of Georgia's current official exchange rates in Georgian lari (GEL / ₾).
• Choose any currencies in the current NBG publication; new blocks start with the US Dollar and Euro selected.
• Show each currency's published unit count, localized name, GEL rate, change since the previous publication, and rate validity date.
• Use Georgian currency names on Georgian-language pages and English names for every other interface language.
• Show flag emoji when available, or use a plain table without flags.
• Cache API responses according to NBG's publication schedule and continue serving the last known rates when fresh data cannot be obtained.
• Choose a rendered table cache duration independently for each block.

Use NBG Currency when a site needs a focused, read-only presentation of the official NBG publication. These are indicative reference rates, not commercial bank buy and sell prices. The module does not convert arbitrary amounts or provide historical rates.

Post-Installation

Enable the module, then go to /admin/structure/block and place the NBG Currency block. Select the currencies to display, choose how long to cache the rendered table, and choose whether to show flag emoji when available. There is no separate module configuration page and no API key to enter.

A new block displays the US Dollar and Euro by default. The module retrieves the available currency list and rates from NBG. If fresh data cannot be obtained, it continues serving cached rates; the block is omitted only when no cached rates are available.

When Drupal Canvas is installed, the block is available as a placeable component and can be configured with currency checkboxes in the Canvas editor.

Additional Requirements

• Drupal 11.3 or later.
• PHP 8.3 or later.
• Outbound HTTPS access to the National Bank of Georgia currency service.

No API credentials, external PHP libraries, or contributed modules are required.

Recommended modules/libraries

• Tagify replaces the currency checkboxes with a searchable tag field on standard block configuration forms. Drupal CMS includes Tagify.
• Drupal Canvas makes the NBG Currency block available for placement in Canvas page layouts.
