This module allows you to replace standard menu links with dynamic Drupal content, such as blocks or nodes. This enables the creation of rich, content-driven dropdown menus by referencing existing site content without altering menu templates. You can choose what content to display and your theme will handle the layout and styling.

The menu items are no longer boring.

This module lets you replace a regular menu link (plain text and a URL) with real Drupal content. Instead of showing just a label, a menu item can display a block, custom block content, or a node using any available view mode. This makes menus more dynamic and allows you to build rich, content-driven dropdowns using existing site content.

Features

The module is lightweight and works with Drupal core rather than overriding menu templates. Unlike Menu Item Extras, it does not force you to add extra fields to menu items unless you actually need them. You simply choose existing content and decide where it should appear inside the menu dropdown. Layout and styling are left to your theme, giving you full control without adding unnecessary complexity.

Post-Installation

After installing the module through the admin interface:
- Ensure the correct user roles have permission to manage MILE references,
- Once permissions are set, edit any menu item (for example, from the Main Menu),
- Inside the MILE references fieldset, select existing content to attach to that menu item,
- Save your changes.

With MILE references:

On the frontend, the menu item will now render the referenced content instead of a simple text link. This allows menus to display richer layouts such as previews, cards, or structured content. You may need to add custom CSS to style the dropdown so it matches your site design.

Additional Requirements

This module only needs Drupal core to function
