Micronode Block

The Micronode Block module automatically creates blocks for each "micronode" content type. These blocks allow users to create or select existing micronodes directly within Layout Builder, offering an opinionated and streamlined content authoring experience without requiring extra configuration for new content types.

This module derives blocks for each micronode type, providing a very opinionated plug-n-play content authoring UX.

Features

After enabling Micronode Block, new block plugins will be available for any micronode type. These block plugins display in a "Components" category and are most useful within Layout Builder. When placing a Micronode Block, you will have the option of creating a new micronode or selecting an existing micronode. When editing an existing Micronode Block, you will be able to edit the referenced micronode or remove and replace the referenced micronode.

Additional Requirements

The plug-and-play content authoring experience leans heavily on Entity Browser and Inline Entity Form. Those modules, in addition to Micronode, are requirements.

Similar projects

There are already lots of ways to render a node inside a block. There are other things out there like Block Node and Quick Node Block. There's also Entity Browser Block, which provides some similar functionality and, in fact, was an important reference when writing the code for Micronode Block. You can also pretty easily configure a Content Block type that has an entity reference field without writing any code.

The Micronode Block module is different because of its highly opinionated UX for content authors. Further, some of the solutions above require a bunch of extra configuration each time you add a new node type. With Micronode Block, there's no additional configuration required to support new content types.
