IEF Complex Open Widget provides a new inline entity form widget that in its initial state has the add existing autocomplete field already open.

The benefits of having the add existing autocomplete field already open are:

One fewer button click to add an existing item.
The UX more closely resembles the core entity autocomplete widget.

Additional Requirements

This widget makes Inline Entity Form module show the form by default.

Features

Defaults the "Add existing (entity type bundle name)" autocomplete field to being open and ready for content editor input.

Post-Installation

Edit the content type that has an entity reference to other content and go to Manage form display, and change the widget for the entity reference field to Inline entity form - Complex (Open).
