Google Translator
This module provides a block that allows visitors to translate your website's content using the legacy Google Website Translator service. You can optionally add a disclaimer that users must accept before selecting a language. This module offers a simpler alternative to more comprehensive translation services.
Brings the power of the legacy Google Translate's Website Translator (archive.org link) into Drupal, providing an instant translated version of your site's text. Provides the translate switch as a block.
Optionally, you can add disclaimer text which shows in a modal dialog that the end user must accept before choosing a language.
To configure the disclaimer message and available languages, go to /admin/config/regional/google-translator
Comparison with Gtranslate
These two modules are similar but don't integrate with the same service. While Google Translator (this module) adds a simple widget to your website that does a machine translation using Google Website Translate, Gtranslate module provides integration with Gtranslate, a freemium service that leverages Google Translate, but also adds a whole host of localization options.
Google Support Ended
Google ended official support for the Website Translator in 2019, pointing users to the native translation services packaged up with many modern browsers. This aged legacy tech is still available to use for free, but there's no guarantee it remains available.
