ESUNT

ESUNT is a modern, responsive and highly customizable Drupal theme that combines refined visual design with extensive control over layouts, colors and content presentation. Built on PureCSS, it provides a lightweight, flexible foundation for creating professional websites without unnecessary complexity.

Designed for Drupal 11.4+ and Drupal 12, ESUNT brings together sophisticated appearance management, adaptable page structures, integrated Views presentation options and responsive navigation. Most of its features can be configured directly through Drupal's theme settings, allowing site builders to shape the appearance and behavior of their websites without extensive custom development.

Refined colors and appearance

ESUNT offers nine carefully coordinated color palettes, each with its own Light and Dark appearance. The palettes provide harmonious colors across page backgrounds, typography, navigation, content blocks, links, icons and footers.

For greater flexibility, the Custom Colors system allows independent adjustments for Light and Dark modes. Each appearance provides 23 color controls, while unspecified colors inherit from a selectable base palette. This makes it possible to refine an existing design without recreating the entire color scheme.

The theme also supports Light, Dark and System appearance modes, with an optional visitor switcher. System mode automatically follows the device's preferred color scheme.

Flexible layouts and content regions

ESUNT adapts to websites with different content structures, from straightforward single-column pages to complex layouts with multiple sidebars, navigation areas and featured content.

The theme provides 26 user-facing block regions, including a dedicated Hero region, eight User regions, content areas, sidebars and multiple footer regions. Page and sidebar widths are configurable, with boxed and full-width presentation options.

Responsive layouts adapt to desktops, tablets and mobile devices. Additional options allow selected blocks to be hidden on smaller screens, helping administrators maintain a clear and balanced presentation across devices.

Integrated Views presentation

ESUNT extends the visual presentation of Drupal Views with configurable listing layouts. Compatible Views page and block displays using the Unformatted list format can be styled individually through the theme settings.

Three presentation styles are available:

• Standard: Clean, conventional content listings.
• Zebra rows: Alternating backgrounds for structured, easy-to-follow listings.
• Cards: Responsive card-based layouts with adjustable columns and spacing.

Supported Views pages can also use full-width presentations independently of the usual sidebar layout. These options provide greater design flexibility while retaining the existing Views configuration and content structure.

Responsive navigation and multilingual support

ESUNT includes an adaptive navigation system with multilevel dropdown menus, mobile-friendly expandable navigation and automatic dropdown positioning near viewport boundaries.

Keyboard navigation, visible focus indicators and right-to-left (RTL) layouts are supported. Compact header controls accommodate search, language selection and appearance switching.

For multilingual websites, ESUNT supports language-specific logos, language-aware internal links and navigation adapted to the active language direction.

Slideshow, media and branding

The integrated slideshow supports configurable images, titles, descriptions and links, with multiple image presentation options and adjustable display settings. A dedicated Hero region provides a separate area for prominent images, video or introductory content.

Additional presentation features include configurable typography, rounded corners, page icons, SVG social media icons and an administrator-managed social media menu.

ESUNT also offers flexible author and date presentation, including content-type-specific settings, and coordinated styling for Drupal forms, tables, navigation elements and other interface components.

Lightweight foundation and customization

PureCSS is bundled locally with the theme and provides responsive grids, menus, forms, buttons and tables without requiring an external CDN. ESUNT is a standalone theme with no base-theme dependency.

Beyond its built-in settings, ESUNT supports optional custom CSS and includes a collection of practical styling examples for layouts, navigation, typography, media, blocks, icons and EU Cookie Compliance.

Site-specific customizations can be maintained outside the theme directory, making them easier to preserve during theme updates. A starter subtheme example is also included for developers requiring additional templates and custom functionality.
