Entity comparison

This module allows you to create comparison pages for entities from a selected bundle. Users can add and remove entities from their comparison list, and each user sees only their own list.

Usage

Create an entity comparison

After installing the module, you can create, edit, or delete entity comparisons at:

/admin/structure/entity_comparison (Structure → Entity comparison)

When you create an entity comparison, you need to configure the following fields:

• Label and machine name
• Text for the Add to comparison list link
• Text for the Remove from comparison link
• Maximum number of compared items ("0" = no limit)
• Entity type
• Bundle

You can select any bundle of any content entity type.

After creating an entity comparison, you should clear all caches.

The following items are generated automatically:

• A view mode for the selected bundle
• An Entity Comparison Link field
• A block containing a link to the comparison page
• A permission that allows users to use the comparison

Place the Entity Comparison Link

The generated Entity Comparison Link field is available in the selected bundle's view modes.

You can place it in any view mode (for example: Default, Teaser, or Full content). If an entity is not in the comparison list, the field displays a link with the configured add text (default: Add to comparison list).

If an entity is already in the comparison list, the field displays a link with the configured remove text (default: Remove from comparison).

Configure the comparison view mode

A view mode with the same machine name as the entity comparison is created automatically. In this view mode, you can choose which fields are displayed, their order, and the field formatters used for each field.

Place the generated blocks

A block with the same name as the entity comparison is created automatically. Its output is a link to the comparison page and the current number of items in the comparison list.

Permissions

Permissions are generated dynamically. When you create a new entity comparison, the following permission is created:

[LABEL]: Use entity comparison

[LABEL] is replaced with the label of the entity comparison.
