Editorial Calendar gives editors and content managers a single page where they can see, at a glance, what has been published recently and what is coming up next. It adds a day-by-day calendar to the Content administration section that lists published content and content scheduled for future publication with the Scheduler module.
It is designed for editorial teams that need to plan their publishing rhythm, spot empty days or overloaded days, and quickly jump to any piece of content to review or edit it, without building and maintaining a custom View.
Features
- Day-by-day calendar covering the last 15 days and the next 2 months from the current date.
- Published and scheduled content side by side, visually distinguished with a colour legend:
- Published: published nodes, placed on their creation date.
- Scheduled: unpublished nodes with a "Publish on" date set by the Scheduler module, placed on that date.
- Each entry shows the title, node ID and time, with a link to view the content and an "edit" link shown only to users allowed to edit it.
- Today is highlighted, past days are dimmed and every day shows a counter badge with its number of items, so gaps and peaks in the publishing schedule are easy to spot.
- Optional Scheduler integration: works with core only (published content); when Scheduler is installed, scheduled content appears automatically. The status report (Reports > Status report) tells you whether the integration is active.
- Respects node access: queries are tagged with
node_access, so users only see content they are allowed to see. - Lightweight and fast: two simple indexed database queries, no entity loading, and full render caching invalidated whenever content changes.
- Accessible markup (ARIA regions and list roles) and fully translatable interface strings.
- No configuration needed: enable it, grant the permission and use it.
Recommended modules
- Scheduler: required to display content scheduled for future publication. Without it, the calendar only shows published content.
Usage
- Go to People > Permissions (
/admin/people/permissions) and grant the "Access editorial calendar" permission to the roles that should see the calendar (for example, Editor). This permission is marked as restricted because it reveals the titles of unpublished, scheduled content. - Go to Content > Editorial Calendar (
/admin/content/editorial-calendar). - Browse the days: click a title to view the content, or click edit to open its edit form.
- (Optional) Install and configure Scheduler on your content types and set a "Publish on" date on unpublished content: it will show up in the calendar as Scheduled on that day.
Configuration
The module has no settings form. The calendar window (15 days back and 2 months ahead) is fixed in the current version.
Known limitations
- Only nodes are listed; other entity types are not supported.
- Published content is placed on its creation date, not on the date it was actually published.
- Only the default translation of each node is listed.
