Drulabel
Drulabel is a browser extension that brings back the issue metadata fields from the old Drupal.org issue queue, for issues and merge requests on git.drupalcode.org.
Since the move from Drupal.org issue queues to GitLab, only project maintainers can edit an issue's title, category, priority, status, version, component, assignees and tags directly. Everyone else has to type DrupalBot /do: commands into a comment, which means remembering the commands and each project's exact label names. Drulabel gives you a form with the familiar fields instead, and writes the commands for you.
How it works
- Open an issue on git.drupalcode.org, either on its own page or in the side panel of an issue list.
- Click the Drulabel button in the bottom-right corner.
- Change any fields. The form starts with the issue's current values, and lists only the labels that exist in that project.
- Click Add to comment. Drulabel adds the
/do:commands for your changes to the comment box. - Write your comment as usual, review it, and submit. DrupalBot applies the changes a few seconds later.
Drulabel never posts anything itself. You always see the commands and decide whether to submit them.
Features
- Title and issue summary (description).
- Category, priority, status and close reason, from the project's
category::,priority::,state::andwhy::labels. - Version and component.
- Assignees.
- Tags, with a filter for projects with many tags.
- Related issues: add or remove "related to", "blocks" and "blocked by" links. Issues can be entered as
#123,project/name#123, or a git.drupalcode.org or old drupal.org issue URL. - Issue fork: offers
/do:forkwhen an issue has no fork yet, or/do:accesswhen you don't have push access to it. - Generates only the commands needed for what you changed, using
/do:labeland/do:unlabelrather than/do:relabel, so changes made by others in the meantime are not overwritten. - Works in GitLab's light and dark modes.
Experimental
- Merge requests: Drulabel shows the same fields on merge request pages. DrupalBot's documentation only mentions issues, so it has not yet been confirmed that it acts on commands in merge request comments.
- New issues: in the New item form and page, Drulabel adds the commands to the new issue's description. It has not yet been confirmed that DrupalBot acts on commands in a description.
Requirements
- Chrome, Edge, Brave or another Chromium-based browser, or Firefox 121 or later.
- A Drupal.org account, to post comments on git.drupalcode.org.
Installation
Drulabel is not in the browser extension stores yet. During testing, a build signed by Mozilla is available for Firefox.
Firefox
Requires Firefox 140 or later.
- Download drulabel-firefox-v0.1.0.xpi.
- In Firefox, open the menu → Add-ons and themes, or go to
about:addons. - Click the gear icon → Install Add-on From File… and choose the downloaded file. You can also drag the file onto a Firefox window.
- Firefox shows what Drulabel needs: access to your data for git.drupalcode.org, and no data collection. Click Add.
- Open an issue on git.drupalcode.org. The Drulabel button appears in the bottom-right corner.
Test builds don't update automatically. To upgrade, install the newer file the same way; it replaces the old version.
Chrome, Edge, Brave
There is no packaged build for Chromium-based browsers yet. To try Drulabel, clone the repository, open chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode, click Load unpacked, and choose the repository folder.
Privacy
Drulabel collects no data. It runs only on git.drupalcode.org, and only talks to git.drupalcode.org's own API, to read the issue and the project's labels.
Limitations
- Moving an issue to another project is not supported, as there is no
/do:command for it. - Merge request reviewers cannot be set, for the same reason.
- Only labels that already exist in the project can be applied. DrupalBot cannot create new tags.
- The comment editor must be in Markdown mode. In rich text mode, Drulabel copies the commands to the clipboard instead.
