Connector hub slack

No security coverage Under active development

Connector Hub Slack lets your site post notifications to a Slack channel and respond to a Slack slash command, using the same connection and authentication setup as the rest of Connector Hub.

Introduction:
Connector Hub Slack is an integration module built on Connector Hub and its authentication add-on, Connector Hub Auth. It solves a common need for any site that wants to keep a team informed in Slack: posting a message to a channel from your Drupal site, and letting someone type a simple command in Slack that your site responds to. Both use a Slack app you set up once in your own Slack workspace, so no password is ever handled or stored by your site.

Features

- Post a plain text notification to any Slack channel your app has access to, triggered from your own Drupal code or a future integration with another module.
- Respond to a Slack slash command (for example, typing `/connector-hub-ping` in Slack) with a reply sent back to the person who typed it.
- Built on the same connection screen as every other Connector Hub integration, so a site already using Connector Hub for something else reuses the same admin screens instead of learning a new one.
- Use this when you want your site to notify a team channel about something that happened (an order, an error, a status change), or to let your team trigger something on your site directly from Slack.

Post-Installation

After installing, go to Configuration > Web services > Connector Hub and add a connection using the "Slack" plugin. You will need:
- A bot token from your own Slack app (Slack's "OAuth & Permissions" page, with the `chat:write` permission added), stored as a Key.
- The app's own Signing Secret (a different value, found on the app's "Basic Information" page), entered as this connection's own setting.
- A Slash Command added in your Slack app's settings, pointing at the webhook URL shown on this connection's edit page once it is saved and inbound is enabled.

No new content type, no text format changes - this module only adds the one connection type and the routes behind it.

Additional Requirements

- Requires Connector Hub and Connector Hub Auth, which provide the underlying connection framework and authentication handling.
- Requires the Key module, used to store the bot token and signing secret.
- Requires a Slack app, created by you in your own Slack workspace (free, no paid Slack plan needed for a bot token and a slash command).

- Connector Hub and Connector Hub Auth (required).

Similar projects

Other modules offer a generic "post to a Slack webhook URL" feature on their own, outside of any connection framework. This module is deliberately built on the same connection and authentication layer as every other Connector Hub integration, so a site already using Connector Hub for something else (such as payments or Google) reuses the same admin screens and the same underlying authentication code, rather than adding a second, unrelated way of handling a Slack secret. It also verifies Slack's own request signature on the way in, which a plain webhook-URL approach does not need to, but a slash command does.
