Config Extractor

Overview

Config Extractor is a Drupal 10/11 development tool that allows site administrators to extract and export configuration YAML files related to either a specific module or a specific content bundle/entity.

Features

Extract by Module

- Select any installed module from a dropdown
- Automatically finds all configuration objects that depend on the selected module
- Includes configs that:
- Have the module in their `dependencies.module` array
- Have the module in their `dependencies.enforced.module` array
- Start with the module name (e.g., `my_module.settings`)

Extract by Content/Entity Bundle

- Specify an entity type (e.g., `node`, `taxonomy_term`, `media`)
- Specify a bundle (e.g., `article`, `page`, `tags`)
- Automatically extracts:
- Bundle configuration (e.g., `node.type.article`)
- Field storage configurations
- Field instance configurations
- Entity form display configurations
- Entity view display configurations

Export Options

1. Display on Screen: View combined YAML output in a textarea
2. Download as Archive: Download a `.tar.gz` file containing individual `.yml` files

Post-Installation

1. Navigate to Administration > Configuration > Development > Config Extractor (`/admin/config/development/config-extractor`)

2. Choose extraction type:
- By Module: Select a module from the dropdown
- By Content/Entity Bundle: Enter entity type and bundle

3. Choose export format:
- Display YAML on screen: See the combined output
- Download as .zip archive: Get a compressed archive

4. Click Extract Configuration
