Dominican Catalogus
This project provides a specialized system for religious orders to manage member records, tracking people, communities, and their assignments to specific roles and locations over time. It allows for detailed historical data, including start and end dates for various assignments, and caters to the specific needs of religious congregations like the Dominicans. The goal is to streamline record-keeping by customizing Drupal's content management capabilities.
The Dominican Catalogus maintains records for keeping track of members in a religious order, where various people are assigned to various houses and ministries. It creates two main content types, people and communities, which can each have various names and addresses, and people can be assigned to communities in various ways for fixed periods of time. Most record types include start and end dates so as to maintain a complete history of assignments and ministries.
Rather than being a generic sort of address book, the Catalogus is tailored to the unique requirements of the friars of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans), a religious congregation within the Roman Catholic Church. So, for instance, it maintains a distinction between clerical and lay brothers, and between "simple assignation" and "assigned by way of office" to a community. The goal of the project is to ease the record-keeping required by our laws and practices through the customization of Drupal's content management system.
