Canvas Page Compare

Canvas Page Compare shows what changed between two versions of a Drupal Canvas page. Canvas keeps the old versions of a page, but it does not show the differences between them. This module adds a Compare tab that lists every change, so a reviewer does not have to check the whole page by eye.

Features

• Lists the components added, removed, edited and moved between two versions, with a count of each.
• Shows the old and new value of each edited property, such as a heading, a text or an image.
• Shows changes to the page's title, description and status.
• Shows both versions of the page side by side.
• Compares any two versions. The two most recent are compared by default.
• Compares the language you are viewing, and works right to left.

When to use it: to review an editor's work before approving it, to find out when and how a page changed, or to see what would be lost before reverting to an older version.

Post-Installation

There is nothing to configure. Open a Canvas page and select the Compare tab. People who can edit Canvas pages can compare their versions.

Components are matched by their UUID. If an editor deletes a component and adds a new one of the same type, that shows as one removed and one added.

• PHP 8.3 or later

Current limitations

• It works on Canvas pages only. Nodes built with Canvas are not supported yet.
• The side by side view shows each version without the site's blocks, so changes outside the page content are not visible.

Similar projects

Diff compares revisions field by field, but has no support for the Canvas component field. On a Canvas page with changed components, Diff 2.1 reports no visible changes. Canvas Page Compare reads the components themselves.
