BrightEdge Publisher Agent

BrightEdge Publisher Agent connects your Drupal site to the BrightEdge platform, so the SEO improvements your team approves in BrightEdge are published straight to your pages. Titles, meta descriptions, H1 headings, structured data and targeted page edits are applied when pages are displayed, and your content itself is never modified.

This project was previously known as BrightEdge Autopilot Page Publisher.

Features

• Page titles and meta descriptions, including Open Graph and Twitter titles and descriptions when your site already outputs them.
• H1 headings on content pages, taxonomy terms, Commerce products and other entity pages, and on Views pages and custom routes that show a page title.
• Structured data (JSON-LD), such as FAQ schema, with duplicates of the same type from other modules removed.
• Page edits, such as link text, link URLs, image alt text and visible FAQ content, with any styles they need.
• Other meta tags, such as robots and social sharing images.
• Content stays untouched: changes are stored separately and applied when a page is displayed, so publishing never creates content revisions or changes node titles. The history of every change is kept in the BrightEdge platform.
• Editor panel: a BrightEdge SEO panel on content forms, with a search result preview and length hints. Editors can review or adjust the title, meta description and H1.
• Works with your existing setup: sites that already use other SEO or structured data modules are supported. Where both provide a value, the value published from BrightEdge is used.
• Multilingual: changes apply per language, with path prefix and domain based language detection.
• Cache aware: only the affected page is refreshed when a change is published, in Drupal's caches and, with the Purge module, in CDNs and reverse proxies that support cache tags. Pages without BrightEdge changes are unaffected.
• Secure connection: the platform signs every request with a key generated on your site. No Drupal account or password is shared, requests can't be replayed, and the key can be replaced or revoked at any time.

Post-installation

1. Go to Configuration > Search and metadata > BrightEdge Publisher Agent > Connection and click Generate connection token.
2. Copy the token into the BrightEdge platform. The token is shown only once. Generating a new one, or clicking Disconnect, stops the previous one immediately.
3. Optionally, give editor roles the Edit BrightEdge SEO fields on content forms permission.
4. Optionally, review the settings: which entity types and other pages BrightEdge can update, which query parameters identify a different page, and how changes are applied.

Additional requirements

• A BrightEdge account.
• Version 2.x: Drupal 10 or 11, PHP 8.1 or later.
• Version 1.x: Drupal 9.4 or 9.5, PHP 7.3 or later.

No other modules or libraries are required.

Recommended modules

• Purge: refreshes CDN and reverse proxy caches as soon as a change is published.
