ANK Image Compress

No security coverage Under active development

ANK Image Compress helps Drupal site administrators reduce the size of managed JPEG, PNG and WebP images using the ANK PicPress compression API. It preserves a private copy of each replaced original so the administrator can restore it.

Features

  • Compress individual images or process existing images in a batch.
  • Automatically process pending images through Drupal cron when enabled.
  • Search managed images and browse 50 results per page.
  • Review compression status, space saved and available API credits.
  • Restore an original image from its private backup.
  • Flush Drupal image style derivatives after compression or restoration.

Requirements and limitations

Drupal 11, the File and Image core modules, PHP cURL, OpenSSL and Fileinfo, and an ANK PicPress API key are required. The module works with local managed public:// and private:// files. Animated images, files above 5 MB and images above 20 megapixels are excluded.

Image bytes and an idempotency identifier are sent over HTTPS to the shared ANK PicPress compression API. The API key is encrypted using the Drupal site secret, and backups are kept outside the public web root. The interface is in English with Russian, Spanish, French and Simplified Chinese translations.
